I've been painting and daydreaming since I was a child. I have a BFA from Alfred University School of Art & Design with a major in photography and while I've enjoyed a successful career as a photographer, painting is my real passion. It's difficult to classify my style. It's sort of a mashup of early 20th-century expressionism and surrealism with a modern twist. My favorite artist is Modigliani, and while I'd never dare to make a comparison, there are stylistic choices in my work that evoke his influence. I predominantly paint expressionistic portraits of women--long necked ladies with a story in their eyes that I invite the viewer to interpret. Some are sad, off balanced, weird--possibly a self portrait of sorts during the time I was creating the painting. I also paint abstracts. They're inspired by my perception of the world around me and created when I would rather paint freely, make a mess, and just think about color and composition rather than intricate details. It really depends on my mood at the moment. Ultimately, my goal is to bring thought and joy to people with the use of color and imagination.
