Claire is named after my mother-in-law, who is smart, beautiful and poised. I of course didn't know her when she was young, but this is how I imagine her...
Claire is a stylized portrait set against a vibrant yellow background, with my usual elongated neck and exaggerated facial features-- large eyes and pursed lips, I've given the piece a surreal and whimsical quality. I've used soft, muted tones for her skin and shirt, contrasting with the bright, dripping yellow backdrop that brings in green and pink hues. Her expression is neutral yet enigmatic, inviting the viewer to ponder her thoughts or emotions. Her poised posture, accentuated by a simple pearl necklace, conveys a sense of elegance and understated sophistication.
