Darlene: 18x24in acrylic and oil pastels on canvas board.

Darlene is inspired by a good friend who is strong, creative, beautiful, talented and quirky in the best ways. In my usual whimsical, surreal style, I've highlighted elongated features and exaggerated proportions. Her large, expressive eyes draw the viewer in, conveying a sense of curiosity and introspection. Her short bob haircut, accentuated by dark, bold strokes, frames her face symmetrically, adding to the composition's balance. The striped shirt with a polka-dot collar introduces a playful contrast, both in color and pattern, which complements the vivid background while providing a sense of individuality and character. The bold use of color and stylized features are influenced by expressionism and pop art, inviting interpretations around identity and emotion. Darlene is an exploration of character and mood. I hope you love her!
